They Weren't All Gangsters!   Roaring Wheels of Change...1920s in Chicago

Get a glimpse of what life was like in Chicago (and the US) as society transitioned from the turn-of-the-century's old ways into the "modern" era of the 1920s. While gangsters were shooting up the town (if you believe the many films and TV shows), many important things were happening in society that affected your ancestors. Learn about the role of Prohibition, how women got the right to vote and the dramatic new fashions that appeared. Listen to some Jazz that was all the rage. See images of some Art Deco structures built in this era that broke with past traditions. Discover how the popularity and low cost of Henry Ford's cars assembly line manufacturing contributed 1920s society.

Chicago Tour Guide and amateur historian Donna Primas will share insights into the way things were, assisted by her genealogist sister, Caron Primas Brennan, who will provide family photos and stories as evidence of the impact of this roaring decade.
