Harriet Tubman was an American “shero.” She was an abolitionist, humanitarian, and during the American Civil War, a Union spy. She is best known as a conductor for the Underground Railroad. This railroad had numerous stops in Illinois.
Speaker: Cynthia Maddox, a Chicago actress, director, vocalist, playwright and producer has portrayed the lives of a wide range of African American heroines. For 30 years, she has been touring her one woman show, “A Bit of History,” about the life of Harriet Tubman.
