DNA Special Interest Group - 16 Jul 2022

Today's Topic: My DNA Result Are In! What Do They Mean?

I have my results and it's a list of people. What do I do with it? What do the results mean? How do I begin to use my results to rev-up my family history research? What is the difference between Paper Trail family history research and DNA Trail genealogy research and how do they come together to fill out your family tree? These questions and others will be the topic of today's session, especially geared towards "DNA Newbies" Examples will be presented from various DNA companies. Suz Bates, a local genealogist, will present tools and techniques to begin your exploration today.

About the DNA SIG

This group focuses on learning the methods for analyzing DNA test results. We study topics such as autosomal DNA, mitochondrial DNA, Y-DNA and surname projects, X-DNA and ancestral admixture results. We'll also investigate third-party tools for analyzing your raw data and comparing DNA and gedcom data with test kit results from companies besides the one you tested with.

DNA can break down genealogical brick walls once thought impenetrable – but only if you know how.

This SIG endeavors to be interactive and welcomes your questions. Get ready to put your DNA results to work for you!
