Today's Topic: Back to the Basics - Sleuthing Out "BK"

After closing out 2026 with two advanced topics, we are starting out 2026 with the basics! We will begin with a quick recap of what you need to know to get started with your DNA and then dive right into the Case Study of BK. BK is a match at Ancestry.com who appears impenetrable - all we have to go on is the name of the kit manager, and he's not responsive. The study will compare how far we can get with and without the use of Ancestry's ProTools. You'll see how the ProTools are game changers.

Whether you are new to DNA analysis or experienced, this session aims to offer something for everyone. 

About the DNA SIG

This group focuses on learning the methods for analyzing DNA test results. We study topics such as autosomal DNA, mitochondrial DNA, Y-DNA and surname projects, X-DNA and ancestral admixture results. We'll also investigate third-party tools for analyzing your raw data and comparing DNA and gedcom data with test kit results from companies besides the one you tested with.

DNA can break down genealogical brick walls once thought impenetrable – but only if you know how.
